The main objective of this research is to study Romatoid Artritis patients? mentalisation capasities, psychosomatic functionning and death drive with the help of the projective tests. In Turkey, even though there are studies for psychological effects on patients with auto-immune diseases such as Romatoid Artiritis illness, there is no national publication on psychosomatic functionning with Romatoid Artiritis with inclusion of projective tests. This study is conducted with 15 volunteer women with ages 25 to 45, that has applied to the rheumatology policlinic and have diagnosis on Romatoid Artiritis. After semi- structered psychoanalytic interviews, Rorschach Test and TAT are applied to patients and results are interpreted according to French School content analysis. According to findings of the study, concrete level of representation, limited and poor sembolisation and dream capacities are evaluated. Responses in projective tests are interpreted according to death drive, besides depressive affects are highly invested. Insufficieny in mentalisation capacities and deficiency in representative functioning are elaborated. Health should be considered as a whole both psychically and physical. The necessity of evaluating mental and physical health as a whole is crucial and the importance of multidisciplinary studies is emphasized.
