The study of psychosexual development and its attendant problems requires a strong focus. A child?s acquisition of gender identity and gender identity problems are however more important. It was in 1960 that Green and Money published a series of five cases of young boys with marked cross-gender behavior which they called incongruous gender role. They were also the first authors to begin to characerize this childhood behavioral pettern within the taxonomic framework that used the terms gender identity, gender role and sexual orientation. The signs of gender identity disorder usually first appear between the ages 2 and 4 years. Such signs most typically include toy,dress-up and role play; thus parental responses to these kinds of sex-dimorphic behaviors are of particular important.
