The main aim of this study is to analyze the psychology of the women with chronic low back pain. It is interesting that both in our country and in the world, studies with psychodynamic approach is little. This study is unique in two aspects: The theroretical basis, especially psychoanalytic concepts and the projective technique that was used. It is also significant to note that this study is also a unique one in Turkey. Another main of this study is to evaluate low back pain?s psychosomatic side with Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20) since it is accepted as an objective material to be used commonly in the clinic to support the Rorschach Test results. There are 30 women with chronic low back pain in the research group. The control group is consisting 30 healthy women who are meeting the same circumstances of age, sex and education level with research group. The control group is maintained with the convenience sampling method. Information form, Beck Depression Inventory, Toronto Alexithymia Scale-20 and Rorschach Test were applied to the participants in order. When our data is evaluated, among the women with chronic low back pain and and the women without chronic low back pain, in the Rorschach answer categories, there are more F± (indeterminate form) answers, anatomy answers, F (form) answer percentage, schock and rejection reactions which are more in 7th and 9th cards take us to the idea that the hypothesis were true. There aren?t any meaning differences in C? (sensitiveness to black and grey), Bl (blank space), E (shading), K (movement) and C (color) as answer categories between the two groups. There is a meaningful differences between TAS-20 total score and Factor 1 score whereas there aren?t any meaning differences between Factor 2 and Factor 3 score among the two groups.
