The concept of "Gender" is frequently translated into Turkish as "toplumsal cinsiyet? (social gender) (see: Direk, 2007). This concept brings together physical, social, and psychological qualities, including the sense of belonging to a gender. Throughout this article, only the word cinsiyet 7 (gender/sex) will be used, since in Turkish it can encompass all these dimensions at once. However, the term gender in original sources will be left untranslated and treated as a technical term. Yavuz Erten (2013) describes the stage of becoming gendered as putting on a skin. The body, throughout its development, takes on a "gender skin." This description evokes Didier Anzieu's concept of the skin-ego. In cases where the psychic and the bodily do not align, the diagnostic category of Gender Dysphoria (APA, 2013) can be encountered, referring to dissatisfaction or complaints about one's gender. Recently, especially many adolescents have been monitored in hospitals under this diagnostic category, and the follow-up process with individuals in adolescence brings additional challenges compared to adults. The inability to symbolize this psychic pain?which is compounded by adolescence's inherent struggles with sexualization and gendering?can at times surpass the level of an intense imaginary attack on the body and turn into action. In this study, the projective tests of A., a 16-year-old monitored at a university hospital with a diagnosis of Gender Dysphoria, are examined with a focus on the concepts of skin-ego as well as the relationship between drives and the self. In the presentation, the patient's responses to the tests will be interpreted through the content analysis method specific to the French School.
