The emotional and physiological factors influencing the emotional life of the baby both inside and outside the womb are considered in this work. The ?couple?s cradle of concern? for the baby?s emotional life which is described includes father and mother?s relationship both during and after the pregnancy. Parents? groups and infant observation skills for pediatric staff, teachers and children are discussed as cost-effective preventative mental health activities which have been applied world-wide.
