In this study, the psychic mechanism of a 34-year-old D. who was raised in an environment of domestic violence as a child and who is exposed to physical and psychological abuse repeatedly by her husband is evaluated by projective tests. After a semi-structured psychoanalytically oriented interview, Rorschach and Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) were applied to D. and test protocols were evaluated according to French School content analysis. As a result of the evaluations, it was observed that D. has a depressive mood, uses strict defenses against her impulses and feelings, has problems with pregenital maternal images, traumatic traits of object relations in early childhood, bad and persecutive objects in her test protocols and has a narcissistic psychic structure with masochistic features. Furthermore, in this study within the framework of psychoanalytic theory, the literature on the concept of masochism and repetitive violence has been mentioned. Based on this theoretical basis, the interview and the findings of the projective tests; the relationship between D.?s experiencing difficulty in terminating the abusive relationship that she?s been exposed repeatedly and her trauma history, her problem of early object relations and related masochistic tendencies have been discussed.
