The main purpose of this study was to examine the psychic functioning of prisoners that committed child molestation and sexual assault crimes using Rorschach and Thematic Apperception Test (TAT). 27 prisoners? that were convicted of child molestation and 26 prisoners? that were convicted of sexual assault response patterns were compared. The findings showed that two groups has similar psychic problems, however, intensity and coping ways differ: While pedophiles have difficulties at elaboration of depressive position and choose children for dealing with narsistical injury; aggression is on the forefront of rapists? object relations. According to the findings, in these two groups, sexual act serves to the reparation of narcisisstic injury.
